Chateauneuf du Pape is fortunately a lovely, pretty, little village and one that oozes winemaking from every pore. If you take the motorway from Senas to the Orange turn-off, Junction 22, you can be in Chateauneuf du Pape is 45 minutes from your villa. Chateauneuf du Pape is a lovely, pretty, little village and one that oozes wine making from every pore and only about forty five minutes away. All are mesmerizing and quintessential Provencale 'villages perch'. Bonnieux is the most interesting with many good restaurants. Lacoste is the least commercial and most homogeneous. Golf: Golf du Pont Royal is set in the Lubéron, with fabulous views out over the Durance Valley and the village of Mallemort. It takes its name from the structure visible from the 5th hole. The course was created by the golfer Severiano Ballesteros, who has designed several successful courses in Spain and it offers a challenging game to all levels of golfers. It is classed as being among the top European golf courses. Its 18 holes have a par of 72 over a length of 6303 metres. Special interest: Golf du Pont Royal offers far more than just a fantastic golf course and luxurious accommodation. Even without venturing out of the gates into Provence there is plenty to do on top of relaxing by the pool drinking a glass of fine French wine. With the facilities for both adults and children in easy walking distance a relaxing hedonistic holiday can be replaced with many energetic activities including cycling, tennis and volleyball. If you have children then they can be packed off for the day to go paint-balling and there is even a kindergarten for the younger ones! Also available within the Pont Royal holiday village are restaurants and bars as welll as a food shop that stocks the basics. The hotel reception has a cash machine as does Mallemort that usefully has an Intermarche. Other attractions are many from a days skiing at Mt Serein on Mont Ventoux an hour and a half north of the villa between November and March and to the South Marselle and the Mediterranean coast. The Grand Canyan, an hour and a half away can provide a spectactular full day out. You can sail and swim in the Lac and even canoe down the gorge. Moustier Ste Marie is a pretty village where you could plan to have your lunch. |
